A Saguaro High School faculty member has been named the 2024 History Teacher of the Year for Arizona – a designation that puts him in contention for the title of the nation’s best.

Ashley Crose, who has been with Saguaro his entire 22 years as a teacher and is the school’s Social Studies Department chair, won the state designation from the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, the leading nonprofit advocacy group for K-12 American history

Elevating excellence is not a foreign concept for Saguaro HS's Math and Science Academy where students have created initiatives to not only elevate STEM excellence in their own school, but spreading it across SUSD. In the 17th episode of SUSD Spotlight, we dive into the innovative Melody Makers program. Owen Barker and Marco Bartoletti join us to discuss how they are integrating STEM education with music for 4th and 5th grade students in the district. The program covers topics such as 3D Printing, Artificial Intelligence, and Synthesizers, demonstrating the connections between science and music to inspire young learners.

SCOTTSDALE – Entering the 2024 MLB draft, Saguaro High School’s Cam Caminiti was a top name on the radar of many teams. The 17-year-old proved his dominance as a senior and earned the right to have his name called Sunday in the first round, where he was selected 24th overall by the Atlanta Braves.

“It’s an incredible organization and it feels so good to be here tonight,” Caminiti told ESPN after being selected. “It feels incredible. I was a little nervous at first but I’m just so excited to be on the next step in my journey and I couldn’t be more excited,”

OUR SCHOOL

Saguaro was founded in 1965 and maintains a few of the traditional buildings with rich history; however, our main buildings were rebuilt in 2008. In addition to that, our Innovation Center was built in 2020. This state of the art building is home to our award winning robotics teams and MSA program.
